EllaLink System Ready For Service
The EllaLink System is scheduled to be Ready for Service in 2020.

2019

The manufacturing of the cable has started
Following the coming in to force of the project at the end of 2018, the marine survey is now completed and the manufacturing of the cable has started.

2018

Marguerite became the equity sponsor of EllaLink
The pan-European equity fund Marguerite II became the equity sponsor of EllaLink in H1 2018. Anchor customers on the system are, amongst others, the Bella consortium, Cabo Verde Telecom and EMACOM.

2017

Supply Contract awarded to Alcatel Submarine Networks
The system is being built by Alcatel Submarine Networks and will be one of the new generation coherent submarine cables, offering 72Tbps of capacity over four fibre pairs.

2015

EllaLink project commenced
EllaLink is a state-of-the-art Submarine Cable System connecting Latin America and Europe, linking the major hubs of São Paulo and Fortaleza with Lisbon and Madrid.
2012

EllaLink was formed
EllaLink’s mission is to deploy and operate a next-generation submarine cable system on a unique route between Latin America and Europe. Direct fiber pairs provide a low latency path giving a solid foundation upon which Carriers, Operators & Internet Content Providers can develop competitive offerings. EllaLink’s business model is built on their commitment to provide Products & Services on Carrier Neutral, Open and Independent basis.

BELLA (Building the Europe Link with Latin America) provides for long-term interconnectivity needs of European and Latin American research and education communities. This is achieved through the procurement of a long-term Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) for spectrum on a submarine cable between the two regions. Bella is also developing and deploying research and education networks across Latin America.
SubSea Networks provide a wide range of services ranging from supply contract negotiation to system design and engineering as well as marine survey, route design and install.
CV Telecom is the telecommunications company for Cape Verde and is a leader in offering a wide range of services such as data communications, fixed network services and leased lines. The fixed network services ensures communication in the country and internationally.
NATIXIS: is a corporate and investment bank creating “customised financial solutions” with expertise in asset and wealth management, financing, insurance and financial services.
EMACOM is a telecommunications operator wholly owned by the public electricity company EEM – Empresa de Eletricidade de Madeira. The telecommunications company EMACOM operates 100% fiber optic belongs to EEM, with a total extension of 1200 km in the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo.
